"What did we say about taking the stairs?!"

Films: Down (2001)

Alias: None

Type: Man-Made

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average skyscraper elevator shaft.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: How many of you remember that killer elevator movie from the 80s? Well hard shock, but someone actually saw value in remaking it. We know it sounds stupid, but you got to admit that they at least tried this time...

History: After being disgraced a long time ago, Gunther Steinberg decided to continue his experiments with organic computer chips more privately. Amazingly, this gave him leeway to implement a techno-organic brain into an elevator shaft in the Millennium Building. Then a lightning strike drove the shaft mad, and now anyone who dares go even near the shaft will suffer an undignified, bloody end.

Notable Kills: Any time a frickin elevator kills, but a standout is it sucking in a man and speeding up the floors to launch him out of the building.

Final Fate: After a couple people deduce what's going wrong, they race to destroy the brain. Gunther tries to stop them, but in the end, they are successful, and Gunther is taken with the shaft after its brain is destroyed by a rocket launcher.

Powers/Abilities: Operates at least three of the elevators in the Millennium Building.

Weakness: Destruction of the brain, usually through heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 3-It's still an immobile, easily avoidable elevator, but at least this time, it's a whole lot more proactive. It can actually force some to use it, and its kills are a lot more visceral. So, props for effort.

Trivia: -This film would have gotten a theatrical release, but then 9/11 happened.

-Ironically, one of this film's stars, Naomi Watts, has a phobia of elevators.
